Department of Family & Community Medicine
The Family and Community Medicine Branch teaches students of the College of Medicine within the primary studies in the third and fourth years the principles and concepts of community medicine, occupational and environmental medicine, dietetics and primary health care in addition to teaching graduate students in the branch( Master and doctoral degrees) to get graduate degree in community medicine. The branch also teaches medical statistics and scientific research methodology for all graduate students (Master Degree) in the college. In addition, the branch, as a training centre for students of the Family Medicine Scientific Council and Community Medicine Scientific Council in Iraqi Council of Medical Specialties, teaches Iraqi Board students, and supervises their theses since the foundation of these two councils till now. The branch teaching staffs also participates in giving lectures to students of Community Medicine Arabic Board and supervises their theses.

A departmental council meeting was held for the faculty members of the Family and Community Medicine Department for the new academic year 2024/2025.

A departmental council meeting was held for the faculty members of the Family and Community Medicine Department on Monday, 16th September 2024. The meeting addressed preparations for the new academic year 2024/2025, discussed various matters related to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, administrative documents, the distribution of internal committees, and the updating of the curriculum.

**Participation of Lecturer Dr. Lama Karim Mohammed in a Workshop with the World Health Organization, the Research and Development Network in Reproductive and Sexual Health, and Aga Khan University in Pakistan.**

 Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University, Professor Anis Khalil Nail, Lecturer Dr. Lama Karim Mohammed from the Department of Family and Community Medicine participated in a workshop organized by the World Health Organization, the Research and Development Network in Reproductive and Sexual Health, and Aga Khan University in Pakistan. The workshop, titled "Policy Dialogue Initiation and Development of Policy Brief," lasted for two weeks.
The workshop addressed how to introduce new topics and policies within institutions and society, and how to present these policies to officials and stakeholders to gain support and endorsement. The workshop was successfully completed and is considered significant in supporting sustainable development goals and building sustainable partnerships with global institutions and universities.
